The announcement by GoFundMe came on the same day Ottawa's police chief said some of the money donated has come from the United States.Ī CBC News analysis of the donations last week found that at least a third of the donors were listed as anonymous or used invented names. Ottawans bracing as protest numbers expected to swell this weekend.Several questions to the company from CBC News have not yet been answered. The company did not say how long the fundraiser would be paused, or what might happen to the $10.1 million already collected from more than 120,000 donors. "When we do not receive required information, we may put a pause on donations as we did in this case," the post states. In a blog post, GoFundMe said it was "collaborating with local law enforcement" and had requested more information from the organizer about where the funds were going. "Our team is working 24/7 and doing all we can to protect both organizers and donors. "This fundraiser is currently paused and under review to ensure it complies with our terms of service and applicable laws and regulations," the company wrote. Late Wednesday afternoon, a notice suddenly popped up on the "Freedom Convoy 2022" fundraising page. I am also in disbelief to see that people have been asking for this feature since before at least 2014!Ĭan someone PLEASE recommend to me a fitness tracker that allows you to disable tracking? Thank you in advance. The popular crowdfunding site GoFundMe has paused a multi-million dollar fundraiser for the convoy protest now tying Ottawa in knots, saying it wants to ensure that the fundraiser complies with its terms of service. Or "disable tracking" for X amount of minutes" and then auto resume. This is a major inconvenience that I cannot disable tracking at times when I know I will be getting a ton of fake steps! It doesn't seem like it would be very hard to have a "disable tracking" button. I routinely need to have GPS up on my phone, or if I am not the driver, I need to use my phone for other things. Also you MUST leave the drivebit app open on your screen or it will shut off the functionality. It is not right to ask people to use a 3rd party app like Drivebit to solve a Fitbit problem. I have heard that charging while driving can help. I have tried removing the Fitbit altogether- this doesn't work as removing the Fitbit from my wrist tends to add even more steps while driving. Additionally, doing this does not remove the extra calories burned or steps leading to further frustration! Also this is a very cumbersome and ridiculous "solution" that doesn't actually work and not acceptable! I have tried adding the "driving" activity but I cannot always take time to do it immediately or note down the exact times. Why is it so difficult to disable tracking? I routinely rack up 1000s of steps daily that I did not actually take, affecting my step count as well as calorie count- the two main reasons that I bought the fitbit in the first place. Imagine my frustration that there is no way to disable tracking during this time. I recently moved to a remote location where I drive up and down a rocky/dirt 2 mile long driveway. I am ready to throw this Fitbit in the trash.
